There is much work to be done to understand heroism. A superficial view projects a strong individual in cool clothing who does amazing things with their body and we think, heroine or hero. Ellen Ripley, Luke Skywalker, have cool clothing and kill the enemy. This is a one-sided, energetically, masculine heroic view, regardless of gender. On deeper inspection a key thing going on for any heroine or hero is self-transformation.

Transformation is a product of an inward look at themselves and adopting new skills so that they can manage the challenges before them and be of service to others. What the heroine or hero does is “birth” a new version of themselves, which is always painful. This ‘bringing into being’ is energetically feminine. As is service which is the act of not only protecting but, nurturing others.

It is a heroic act to come into wholeness. Being a man or a woman has a responsibility to develop energetic aspects of the masculine and feminine energies so that we can live complete lives in balance and wholeness.

We need our journeys through our lives to transform us so that we have something to offer our communities. To some, being whole looks weak. But this is not true. It is a deeper power to have the ability to transform, grow, and serve, along with decisive action.

We live at a time in history where we are being asked to be our very best versions of ourselves. All of us have a role to play in saving the world. We will be required to be nothing less than heroic.

This week the United States chose new leadership that embodies the humility required to transform not only themselves, but the country. May Biden and Harris, continue on their path to wholeness.
